Camp Long

i love throwing parties. i wish i had more close friends just so i could throw them all parties. i also love engagements. sooooo obviously an engagement party for my best friend would be jackpot for party planning!!!! I had been dreaming of throwing a camp inspired party for a marriage celebraton, and caroline is perfect for it. This theme fits her so well because she LOVES camp. she worked at sky ranch when we were in college, and if her and caleb ever start a camp then they better call it "camp long". having talented friends comes in handy, like sweet jennifer, who's sister made the beautiful cupcakes, and emily watkins, caroline's amazing best friend and photographer.

this "camp long" sign was so easy to make. i bought the sign itself at michael's, but i honestly should have had daniel make it! i traced the letters with some stickers from the dollar spot at target using a white paint marker, then removed the stickers and filled in the letters. i just went free hand on the arrow, which is why it's a little crooked. all in all, it was a pretty simple craft that caroline and caleb were able to keep.
caroline also has a love for coke over dr. pepper.... so weird, but i thought a soda bar would be a cute addition to the camp theme! i love "bars" or diy food/drinks at parties because it gives people something to do when they first get there! this is such a simple idea, that i can easily use at any party i throw from now on. i'm even thinking about recreating this for a brunch party. so i'll add my keurig, tea, orange juice, and a few other drinks. well hopefully you'll see that idea come to life soon, but for now i'll try to stay on topic.
my favorite part of the soda bar is the metal caddy from target (where all good things live). when i'm not using it for cute stuff, it holds our mail!
my handwriting obviously needs some work, but that's the best i've got for now.
we just did snacks for this party, and to keep with the camp theme i went with diy trail mix. all of these cute green containers came from the dollar store!

melissa morrison made these incredible cupcakes to go with the camp theme. i love that they are s'mores inspired!
one of the best things i've figured out from throwing parties is that making it yourself is WAY better than buying it. those cute tassel banners you see online are SO easy to make that there's really no reason to buy them. i'll do a diy soon of how i make them because i'm obsessed with them, and i even use them as decorations in my classroom. also, a photo backdrop is a must for throwing a party. friends are the best. once you find good ones, keep them close.
xoxo,
kelsey
