I'm always looking for fun weekend trips to take with daniel that don't cost a ton, and are a short drive. we have gone to winstar, san antonio, and austin, but i wanted something a little different. I decided it would be fun to borrow my parents RV and take a weekend trip to the guadalupe river with my sisters and their boys. i hadn't been to the river since i was about sixteen, so this was a mini adventure for us. we stayed at rio guadalupe resort which is a right on the river and offers tube rentals and shutles. so it's super convenient for tubing, but the drive into gruene is about twenty minutes.
we drove in early saturday, unloaded the rv, and headed straight for the river. the tube guy even ended up giving us our cooler tube for free! we took the short trip on the river (four hours) which didn't seem like it would be a short trip, but it really went so fast. halfway through our float it started raining and felt like it was 60 degrees outside... the weather is ALWAYS wrong in texas.
for dinner we headed to gristmill in gruene, but the wait was two hours and we were hungry! so we opted for Del Rio, which was right down the street. cute little mexican place with lots of outdoor seating. while we waited for our table we walked around gruene and looked at all the cute shops. it was raining off and on so we kept busy browsing all the cute t shirts and rustic decorations. everything was literally so cute that I could have spent a whole day shopping, but I also would have spent my whole years salary because it was all so expensive.

texas is incredible. the people. the nature. the towns. I love it because every place is so unique. you can feel a world away even if you only drove a few hours. I've lived here my whole life, but haven't even seen half of it!
my sweet sister megan and her boyfriend blake joined us, and my sister jennifer and her husband josue. we all shared a 25 ft RV...... max occupancy 6 people..... it was a little tight, but free!!!!
speaking of, driving an RV is hard. daniel drove all the way down, but I drove two hours on the way back and have never felt so stressed in my life.
check out megan's adorable one piece that says "mermaid off duty"! too cute!
the only downside was losing a set of keys in the river and having to wait on a locksmith when we got back to the RV.... I'm sure we will all laugh about it one day.
xoxo,
