Firefighter Wifey

I had no idea what I was getting into when I married a firefighter. it's not like a normal career because it's more than a job. it's a part of who daniel is, and who we are as a family. daniel knew that already because his dad is a firefighter too. I love that he's a firefighter, mostly because it's basically the most attractive profession there is... for realz. but i guess it also has to do with how caring he is, and how he puts others before himself every single day.
when we first started dating daniel was working part time at a volunteer fire department (not his favorite memories), but he was still in paramedic school so he didn't have a ton of options. by the time we got engaged he was with coppell fire department, and worked there during our first year of marriage. so he completed a full year of being a probationary firefighter there, and then right when he got off probation decided to move departments. he didn't search around or job hunt, he heard Frisco was hiring and that was that. daniel grew up in arlington, where his dad is chief, so he knew he wanted to be in a big department. frisco offered that size and room for growth that he wanted! daniel always knows exactly what he wants, and goes for it. so he got hired with Frisco, and started his probationary year over again!
if you know anything about firefighting, you know that nobody wants to be the rookie.... again. being a rookie means doing all the chores, including the cooking, cleaning, laundry, answering the phone as soon as it rings and whatever else a fire station needs done. it also means taking any overtime shifts offered to you, and basically never saying no. which means another year of daniel being completely exhausted from working his booty off, especially since frisco has at least three times the calls as coppell did.  sooo all that to say that daniel is finally done with his probationary year (again)!!
his sweet parents came to celebrate his "red shirt" burn with us! he also received his black helmet!
it is so exciting to finally be done with this stage of his career.
I'm so proud of my firefighter husband and all he has accomplished!
xoxo,
kelsey
