Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey has already impacted so many of my friends and family members, but luckily everyone I know is safe! My husband is being deployed to the Houston area tomorrow with a crew from his fire department for 10 days. Before he even told me he was going, I knew he would end up having some part in the rescue and recovery. Daniel can't stand by and watch emergencies happen with out contributing anyway he can. That's just the kind of man he is, which is probably why he's such a great firefighter.

He told me on Tuesday that he would be leaving Saturday morning at 5am, but their time got moved up to Friday at 5am. We had planned on spending all of Labor day weekend together so I immediately became selfish, and thought "what about me?". I couldn't help but be upset that he was leaving for 10 days! I'm still upset because I'm going to miss him, but I'm so happy he's able to help. Giving up my husband for 10 days is gonna have to be my way to support the Houston area.

While he's there he will be on the "am bus", which is some sort of ambulance bus that can transport large amounts of patients. They will pretty much be on this bus 24 hours for 10 days, including sleeping on it themselves. Frisco has sent about 20 firefighters to assist, an ambulance, and the am bus. Daniel's crew will be replacing the guys who have been their since the hurricane hit.

I am so beyond proud of Daniel for his dedication to serving and loving others. He could have easily ignored the call to serve (like I would have), but he can't. He has such a heart for service, and it makes me so happy to be married to him.  Please keep Daniel and all the first responders in your prayers. They are all working to the point of exhaustion, and are giving up so much to be there. If you're looking for ways to help start with prayer. All of the victims and responders are in need of so much physically, but spiritually they are drained!

xoxo,
kelsey
