Crowson Party of Three: First Two Weeks with Sawyer!

The days are long but the years are short, or in this case the weeks.

Our Sawyer Denise is already two weeks old, and I have no idea how! It feels like she was in my tummy yesterday. Having her has been a huge adjustment, but I'm loving our new normal. Daniel is such an incredible daddy, which makes him an even better husband. Our pets have become little babysitters that check on her constantly. Our friends and family are obsessed with her, and have visited every day. Sawyer has such a personality, and knows exactly how to get what she wants! Who knew that a 2 week old could control adults so easily?

Weight: 7 lbs 14 oz

Birth Weight: 7 lbs 7 oz

Changes and Developments

Loves tummy time and skin to skin on Daddy's chest.
Started using a pacifier a few times a day.
Dances to oldies music with Daddy. The Beach Boys are her favorite.
Has the hiccups all the time.
Gets kisses from our dog Obi every day.
Looks all around.
Grabs on to Daddy's mustache and Mommy's necklace.
Loves to be worn in Mommy's CuddleBug Wrap.
Has to be swaddled to get good sleep.
Does great in her carseat and stroller.

Adventures

Sawyer has had a busy two weeks with lots of outings and visitors! We have had so many friends and family spoil us with food and gifts. I have eaten better these past two weeks then I ever did before. Home cooked meals are the best.

Sawyer's first outing was to the pediatrician! We were so happy that her jaundice was getting better, but we continued to put her in the sunshine to help. She went down to 6 lbs 15 oz from 7 lbs 7 oz at birth. Everything else was great, and that amount of weight loss is completely normal. After the pediatrician we made a trip to Kroger so that Daniel could get his TDAP shot, and I could get Starbucks! We took her inside in her carseat, and I honestly hated it. That thing is so bulky and took up so much space in the cart. That's when I decided I would much rather wear her whenever possible.

Sawyer has also been to Home Depot, Target, and Costco! I'd say that Target was her favorite, but Daniel would probably argue that Home Depot was. I wore her to all three, and she slept the entire time. Even when taking her in and out of the carseat.

We spent an entire day at my parents, and enjoyed the sunny warm weather outside. She got to meet her great grandpa, and my parents' giant labs. We also spent all Saturday at Daniel's parents lake house! The weather was chilly, so we just cuddled up inside. Sawyer was held the whole time by her Gigi and Chief.

Eat/Wake/Sleep

We are following Baby Wise, and are loving the consistency of it. I will share more about Baby Wise, and why we are doing it later on. Basically she eats every 2.5-3 hours then stays awake 30 minutes to an hour, then sleeps for an hour or 2. Sometimes things don't work out perfectly because plans change, she gets hungry early, or she just won't nap.
