What I'm Reading // The Husband's Secret

If you've heard of Big Little Lies, the tv show or the book, then you're familiar with this author. Liane Moriarty definitely knows how to write a drama that holds your attention, hints having her book turned into a HBO series. I absolutely loved Big Little Lies so when I saw The Husband's Secret in the airport bookstore I went ahead and picked it up. For some reason it ended up on my bookshelf, and I forgot about it for few months.

When I finished The Masterpiece I checked my bookshelf and found this gem. The story centers around a letter written by a husband for his wife to read when he dies. She finds it while in their attic, and asks him about it. He suspiciously requests that she doesn't open it because he's supposedly embarrassed. Daniel wrote me letters like this when we got married. One for our wedding day, when we bought a house, when we had a baby, all the major life events, including his death. He gave them to me though. He didn't hide them. So I'm obviously not suspicious at all! Ceicilia (in the book) becomes extremely paranoid because her husband is not the type to write a loving sentimental letter. She eventually reads the letter, and the information inside changes her life as well as her children's and many other women's.

I was SO intrigued by what his secret would be. I just assumed it would be an affair because the title kinda makes you think that. You will have no idea what the secret is, but Liane doesn't make you wait long to find out! The rest of the book is basically waiting to see the consequences of his secret, and how it effects the other women involved.

This is the type of book that has a ton of dialogue, which I love. Sometimes I find myself skipping the writing in between so that I can find out what the characters say! It also tells you what lots of different characters are going through. It doesn't just focus on one character's perspective.

Such a great book. When I find an author I like then I get a little obsessed and read all of their books. I will most likely be reading Truly, Madly, Guilty and What Alice Forgot soon!
