Colorado Springs Recap

We had so much fun finishing up our summer/maternity leave with a trip to Colorado Springs before I start teaching again! It was a bittersweet trip because we looked forward to it all summer, but I knew that it meant the end of my brief time as a stay at home mama. I will always cherish our summer months since the school year feels so hectic as a teacher.

EEEEKKK VACATION. Does anyone else just love going beautiful places with their person + babe? It's seriously the best to spend 24/7 together for a few days.

Turo was one of the easiest parts of our trip. Being able to go straight from baggage claim to our car waiting in the parking lot was the best. We looked into a rental car, but it wouldn't cost more than our hotel!!!! Turo is definitely the way to go for vacations from now on. It's basically Air BNB for cars. Also, way cheaper than Uber if you are going to be driving a lot.

If you've never done a scenic drive through Colorado, DO IT. We are usually go go go kind of people, but we had some spare time and wanted to see this part of Colorado. We drove part of the Gold Belt Scenic Byway, and we were not disappointed. We were so happy to have our Turo car to go wherever we wanted.

Garden of the gods was the most breathtaking place I've ever been. I had no idea places like that even existed. I've seen beautiful mountains, pristine beaches, but this was completely different.

Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial held so much meaning for Daniel. We actually got to be there while they were etching the names of the Fire Fighters that lost their lives in 2017. It breaks my heart for those families, and makes me so thankful every time Daniel comes home safe.

Seven falls... KEY WORD "FALLS". Lets just say, I hate heights. So when I think of seven falls I don't think of the beautiful waterfalls that you climb to see. I think of FALLING to my death. Yeah no thanks. So we took the elevator up after my pathetic attempt to climb the 300 stairs. It was incredible, but I'm sure the view from the stairs was even better.

For whatever reason I'm obsessed with caves! We went to the caverns in San Antonio, and I loved it! So we went to Cave of the Winds here. It was so cool, but caves echo.... Sawyer happened to be a little fussy and EVERYONE knew it. 🤣

I'd never heard of the Manitou Cliff Dwellings before so that was a pleasant surprise. I'm always so impressed with the way people lived throughout history. To have literally built your home in the side of a cliff is incredible!

Vacationing with a baby is completely different than any trips we've taken before. We absolutely love it, and know things will get even more wild and exciting when we have more kids.

Keep an eye out for my post about traveling with an infant that will give you the deets on how we made sure she got plenty of naps in and stayed on a decent schedule while we had fun!!
